D6 - PLANT-SPECIES-TO-COMBAT-EROSION

Ethiopia, a slope organization system functioning by means of enclosures and progressive water harvesting reservoirs.
Morocco. Vegetable fibre barriers to stop soil erosion and provide protection from sandstorms.
An irrigation system in the valley of Gindah (Eritrea). The area situated between the arid coast and the highland receives the humidity of the thermal currents coming up from the Red Sea.
Ragusa Ibla (Sicily). The town was built along the gorges arranged by means of terracing systems, water harvesting systems, embankments and channels like those of the Apulian and Lucanian gravine. The altitude and the stateliness of these canyons, called caves in Sicily, enable a humid microclimate to be maintained, favouring a flourishing vegetation as well as a rich biodiversity.
